**HISTORIC END OF AN ERA:
US Mint Produces LAST PENNY on November 12, 2025** After 232 YEARS, the penny is officially PENNIES FROM HEAVEN – no longer minted! The Philadelphia facility struck its final cent on Nov 12, 2025, closing a chapter that began with the first US coin in 1793 – the Fladgate cent, later replaced by the Lincoln penny. Why the penny was dropped: • Cost: Each penny cost nearly 4¢ to produce by 2024 • Annual losses: Millions for the US Mint • Treasurer Brandon Beach stated: “Production is no longer fiscally responsible or necessary.” It’s a tiny piece of metal, often overlooked, sometimes even a nuisance. But for over two centuries, the humble penny has been a constant in American pockets and purses. Now, with talks of its potential demise growing louder, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on the end of an era – the last penny being minted.
