A lawsuit against Sony is currently pending, demanding $5.9 billion USD from the business for allegedly "ripping off individuals" through the sale of downloadable games for the PlayStation. According to a recent Sky News article, a consumer rights group in the U.K. led by Alex Neill has filed a lawsuit against the Japanese gaming giant, alleging that it charges predatory and anti-competitive prices for the digital versions of its games.
According to the petition, Sony charges a 30 percent fee on all games and microtransactions purchased through its online store, raising the price for customers. Up to nine million customers could share in a settlement from the case that would cost between $79 and 61 USD.
