A new leak surfaced from A$AP Rocky, Sway Burr and Rich Homie Quan "Indie."This mysterious cut has been circulating the internet today. The leak was uploaded to rapper Sway Burr's Soundcloud, although according to the credits he's just a featured artist. It doesn't sound finished, and for all we know it isn't, but we know how you guys fiend for Rocky. The cut features a short opening verse from Rocky, a chopped up a hook and a closing verse from Rich Homie (with Sway Burr in the middle). The H-town vibes are definitely present, but no producer has been credited.
Could this be an early, unfinished album leak? Or a random verse Sway Burr got his hands and liberated? Time will tell. After announcing the first leg of his upcoming Forest Hills Drive Tour, late last night he announced that he will take the show overseas with Jhené Aiko and Pusha T. Taken off their G.D.O.D 2 mixtape. A few years ago Dr. Anthony B. Pinn and Bun B began teaching "Religion and Hip Hop Culture," a course at Rice University in Houston, TX. The two recently came to Hot 97 to speak on the course (which is offered for free at the university), how it began, how Bun got involved in the course, and more details on the class. It's a really great listen, if you have the time to do so.
Since Drake's surprise project If You're Reading This It's Too Late was released last week, folks have been going back and forth on whether it was a mixtape or an actual album – which would obviously make things interesting when talking about Drake's future with Cash Money. It was released straight to iTunes, but Drake mentions "mixtape" several times throughout the 17-track offering.
Now, it seems as if we've got an answer regarding the release. Speaking with our old stomping grounds, DatPiff's Kyle "KP" Reilly offered the following explanation. "Originally we were in talks to release it for free... and have DJ Drama host and even make it an official Gangsta Grillz... however the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums. It was a mutual decision since he wanted to give it away. They [the label] said, 'Hell no,' not in those words, so they 'agreed' to do it this way as a middle ground and it would count towards his Cash Money deal album total. The label had zero input or creative control." So, if KP is correct, and IYRTITL really does count towards his album requirement with Cash Money, it's safe to say Drake is jumping ship with Wayne. Juvenile's recent single "Can't Keep Hanging On" gets the visual treatment.
