ATL's own Shawty Lo and Young Thug link up on "Next Door," a track off the former D4L rapper's upcoming King of Bankhead mixtape. No word on when the project will arrive but look out for it arriving soon.

Is Kendrick Lamar about to drop off another new single here soon titled “King Kunta”? Well according to HBO Music Supervisor, Scott Vener, he is.
On Wednesday night, Scott Vener pulled out his best Kanye "rant” on Twitter and went in depth about a new record he heard over the weekend from Kendrick Lamar. Scott says he went to visit Pharrell in the studio this past weekend, when Kendrick Lamar (who was in the studio working with Skateboard P) pulled out his laptop and started playing some new music for everyone, which included a song called “King Kunta”. Scott, who was blown away by the record, said the track is produced by TDE's own Sounwave, and described it as some old school L.A. hip-hop ish that gave him chills. “Took me all the way back to 90s hip hop and back and gave me a tour of the cultural fabric of LA like never before.” – Scott Vener Scott later spoke tweeted about Pharrell’s reaction towards the record, which was described as “unapologetically black and AMAZING". He also says Pharrell mentioned that he can’t wait for Q-Tip to hear it, “Those chord changes though. I can’t wait for @QtipTheAbstract to hear this. Take note that there’s no real confirmation of the record or if it will appear on Lamar’s sophomore album, but with TDE's CEO, Punch, replying and allowing such details to be revealed, there’s a very good chance this maybe the follow up to "i". After hitting us with two dope EPs earlier this year (N.O.M.A. and No More with Shlomo), Jeremih's long-awaited Junior effort looks like it's finally ready to be released. Cole, Fabolous, Trey Songz, Juicy J and others. Check out the tentative tracklist below.

Suge Knight hasn't been having a great year. After recovering from a bullet wound that left him hospitalized, Knight (along with comedian Katt Williams) has been accused of stealing a photographer's camera. Both men were arrested on robbery charges, reports XXL.
According to the DA's press release, "the two men are suspected of stealing the camera of an independent on Sept. 5 outside a studio in Beverly Hills." Bail was set for Williams at $75,000 for Williams and one million for Suge, who has a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, Williams faces seven years in custody, and Suge faces 30 to life in state prison. After assisting Yo Gotti on his latest single, Lil Boosie Badazz returns with a brand new single, "All Falls Down." A sinister track that will live on his Life After Deathrow, arriving tomorrow!
If you watched Lil Wayne‘s public service announcement last night, you would of seen that Wayne showed off a tentative tracklisting for his upcoming Tha Carter V album, which we know now will be released in two parts with the first part dropping on December 9th.
From looking at the tracklist, you can see that Drake, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug, Reginae Carter, Mikky Ekko, B.o.B, Flow, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Christina Milian, Young Jeezy, and Gudda Gudda will all be featured on C5. Weezy did mention on the PSA that there will be more songs added, so don’t expect the tracklist we saw to be exact when the final project is released. Also, Mannie Fresh is not listed as a feature and he confirmed that he would be appearing on the album various times. The song “Side Bitch” is also not listed. You can check out the tentative tracklist below. What are your thoughts on the features and song titles for Tha Carter V so far Wayniacs? Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan are two rappers with sing-songy tendencies who rose to prominence with songs that were equal parts weird and hard-hitting (think "Danny Glover" and RHQ's hook on "My Nigga"). For that reason, it was a bit shocking to hear their recent tape with Birdman under the name Rich Gang, which was largely composed of R&B-style tracks that border on straight up "love songs." One of the most romantic of them, Quan's "Milk Marie," has just gotten a video.
Quan hangs out with one woman for the entire thing, making out on a bed, sharing a bathtub, and playing tennis. If you're currently in a relationship, you should be taking notes from RHQ. Cash Money Records CEO Birdman recently talked about the publicized delays behind artists Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter V and Nicki Minaj‘s The Pinkprint and explained why he won’t rush greatness.
Birdman said despite his executive position, he does not pin YMCMB artists to specific release dates. “Wayne, man. He’s so much an artist like that. He change his mind a lot. He feel like he want to do more. Really, they be on they call. It ain’t on me. So whatever Wayne want to do, Nicki want to do. I leave that up to them. I don’t decide on dates and everything. I don’t do none of that.” (XXL Mag) New Orleans native 3d Na Tee is back with another visual for the song Do It for the Gram.
Theophilus London collabs with Yeezy on this hot new one “Can’t Stop”, which will be featured on his new project ‘Vibes’ dropping November 4th.
DeJ Loaf is starting to capitalize on the success of "Try Me," by releasing her new mixtape Sell Sole and singing to a major label, Columbia Records. Still, she has a lot more she wants to do in the game and she's just getting started. We spoke to her for a second time when she was in New York, where she discussed working on Sell Sole for the past two years, choosing to go with Columbia, and possibly doing an EP with Young Thug. DeJ first speaks on Sell Sole, saying she held on to a lot of music from the last two years because she didn't have the proper resources to drop a mixtape. "Nothing sounds like this, coming from a girl anyway. I just try to make relatable music" DeJ says, naming "I Don't Know" as her favorite song off the tape. "I recorded that a couple weeks go." Young Thug and Birdman made an appearance on the tape, but the relationship between DeJ and Thugga won't be stopping there. "Thug, he reached out. He was like, 'yo I like your music, we should put something together, we need to make an EP. We should make an EP.' So I was like cool, I rock with what he do. I think it'd be dope. So I sent him "Blood", I'm like, 'I think you'd be dope on here'," she continued, "And then Birdman actually called me and gave me some game, it was like a real recognize real type of thing. So that was dope." As to be expected when you have the hottest song out, a lot of major labels were hounding DeJ to sign her. "A lot of people reached out when we first started out cause the song was hot, "Try Me." So we just kept getting calls about it, but we wanted to go with the people who were, okay, you have "Try Me" but what else do you have? We're interested in knowing that- who is this girl, and what is she about, why is she making this record. What else does she have? We just wanted to go with the situation that fit me best, and everybody came at us," DeJ told us. "We went to Columbia 'cause they see the vision." As for what's next for the rising female MC, she says, "The mixtape dropped, we're gunna start working on the album. We gotta start working on that, lock in, get some good music poppin'. More music, that's what it's about. Music. Album. I'm tryna stamp my name. 'Cause people come in and outta the industry all the time, I'm not a one-hit wonder. Legendary status is where I wanna take it." Watch the full interview below. The Coke Boy links up with the GS-9 boys for the bass-heavy, Young Chop-produced number Chinx let loose a few short days ago. Pure ski mask music.
As a bonus, here's some behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the music video for the other GS-9/Coke Boy collabo, Bobby and French Montana's "Hot N (Remix)." After assisting Stalley on "One More Shot" and Keyshia Cole with "On Demand," August Alsina returns with some new music of his own. Putting his recent health scare behind him and releasing the inspiring new single, "Grindin." A fresh new jam, seemingly inspired by Wayne and Drake's Carter V connection of the same name.
Press play on the Payne Lindsey-directed clip up top and be on the lookout for new Alsina music, hopefully arriving soon. |
