Finally, the world has a glimpse of what happens when Yoncé from H-Town and Drizzy from the 6
come together on one track. What sounds like an unfinished version of Drake and Beyonce's new song "Can I" leaked onto the 'net and apparently it's all about Drake wanting to settle down and completely open up to that special someone. Clearly though, the romantic struggle is real because although Drizzy sounds like he's found the perfect woman to bring out his soft side, he seems to be having a hard time letting the tough guy side of his persona take a back seat to love. On "Can I," Drake raps, "Tell you what I think my biggest flaw is/I try to be consistent but I can't." He then makes one final request of his potential one and only by asking, "Before I turn the lights out/Tell who me the f**k you wanna be."

Atlanta DJ/Music Maker, Genius, collaborates with fellow slumlord, Sy Ari Da Kid, and ABN's Trae Tha Truth & Jay'ton on a new track entitled, "Miss Me." With Genius and Kid on the hook, Kid's melodic flow, Trae Tha Truth's Texas grit & Jay'Ton's rawness - the record encapsulates a Summer droptop vibe.
The record is an early release from Genius' solo mixtape, "Prince Slum," slated to drop early Summer. K Camp, Que, Scotty ATL, Bobby Johnson and more are expected to be featured on the tape.
We’ve hardly had time to digest Barter 6, and Thug is pushing out new music. Taken from DJ Dubble D & DJ Scooby ATL’s The Leak tape.
It’s that time of the year. Forbes has rolled out the list of hip-hop’s wealthiest. It’s the usual suspects, although maybe not in the order you would have guessed.
1. Diddy – $735 Million Many people expected Dr. Dre to hold the top spot following the sale of Beats to Apple last year, which landed him the largest single-year payday of any musician in history. But, Diddy has his hand in everything from vodka, to tequila, to water, to clothing, to even owning his own TV network– which is enough to land him the 1 spot.
Shy Glizzy recruits Jeezy for an updated version of his track "Funeral".
Revisiting last year’s Law 3: Now or Never mixtape, Shy Glizzy decides to come through and revive his track “Funeral”, with an additional verse from the Snowman. Leaving the same piano-laced instrumental and chorus intact, Jeezy delivers a braggadocious verse that focuses on all the superstars who'd be at his funeral if it happened, including Meek Mill, Mayweather, Fab, Young Buck, and Lil Boosie. Available on iTunes, “Funeral” serves as the follow up to Glizzy’s latest release “Score”. Take a listen and share your thoughts below. Trinidad James can now fuck up some commas off his writing credit on "Uptown Funk."
Back in January, we were surprised to see Trinidad James' name (actually Nicholas Williams) in the writing credits of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' chart-topping hit "Uptown Funk," and now we're learning just how much he stands to make off that "Don't believe me, just watch" line. Pigeons And Planes crunched the numbers, and thanks to James getting at least 5.625% of the song's current publishing revenue of $840,000, he's going to make at least $47,250 (most likely more) off of it. '70s mainstays The Gap Band (who counted Charlie Wilson as a member) were also credited, due to similarities to their song "Oops, Upside Your Head," and the band's four members will split 17% of the revenue. A little less chaotic than the still-ongoing "Blurred Lines" lawsuit, but still, a messy legal situation. Offset racks up even more charges after being involved in an altercation in jail.
As Offset's bond was denied last month due to prior felony convictions, things already weren't looking good for the Migos member, and now they look even worse. The Statesboro Herald reports that the 23-year-old rapper has been charged with battery and "causing a riot" after an incident in Bulloch County Jail on Saturday. The County Sheriff states that video surveillance in the jail captured the fight, which was between Offset and another inmate, who sustained "visible injury to the right side of the head" and also identified the rapper as his attacker. Add those charges to the long list of existing ones (marijuana possession, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, carrying a weapon in a school safety zone, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon), and it doesn't seem likely that Offset will be out anytime soon. Vice media is talking to Kanye West about creating a TV show together.
Vice is really out here. The media company, now valued at $4 million, will be turning their focus to cable television in the coming months, and Kanye West might be involved. In a New York Times article on the company's TV aspirations, it's revealed that they'll be taking over A&E's History Channel spinoff network H2, and that their programming could very well include a show by Mr. West. All that the NY Times says is that Vice is "in talks with Kanye West about a show," so there's a lot of room for speculation. If it actually happens, he'll join Action Bronson's 'Fuck That's Delicious" on the new network.
Jay Z's 40/40 club will host a recurring talk show with celebrity guests.
Everyone may be talking about Tidal right now, but Jay Z continues to move forward with his business ventures. The Brooklyn mogul is set to launch a new interview series out of his 40/40 club in Manhattan. The new show will be broadcast digitally through Sports Illustrated, and will be hosted by WNBA star Skylar Diggins. The show will feature celebrity guests from the world of sports, music, and beyond, and from a new screencap shared by Diggins herself, it seems Fabolous may be one of the first guests. Diggins is of course represented by Roc Nation Sports, so the money is all going back into Hov's pocket in the end. No news on when the show will begin, but we'd expect it soon. Wiz Khalifa drops a video for his new track, "No Permission".
Wiz Khalifa has the number one song in the country right now, but as Khalifa has been known to do, he hasn't taken a minute's rest, releasing a brand new record today called "No Permission". The heavy sample-driven track drops along with a music video, which finds Khalifa roaming the streets of New York. Once again, it's proof that it's impossible to predict the rapper's moves. His next record could be more Trap Wiz, a sentimental pop jam, or a smoking anthem, but for now, we're happy with this traditional rap sound. Look out for for more from Wiz soon. The lineup for the 2015 Austin City Limits music festival has been revealed.
The annual Austin City Limits music festival will be taking place once again this October, and the lineups for both weekends have been revealed today. The fest isn't exactly heavy on rap performers, but there are certainly some heavy hitters in the mix, with Drake, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, Chance The Rapper, Run The Jewels, and the quickly ascending Kehlani confirmed as performers. The even will be going down Zilker Park on teh weekends of October 2nd and 9th. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here. This is yet notch on Drake's festival belt this year, who'll be performing at Wireless, Governor's Ball, Landmark, and his own OVO fest, not to mention his two weekend stint at Coachella a few weeks back. Check out the full lineup above. Ciara sits down with the gang from Ebro in the Morning.
To promote her newly-released Jackie album (which is named after her mother), Russell Wilson’s new bae, Ciara, decided to stop by the Hot 97 studios on Tuesday and sit down with the gang from Ebro in the Morning (sans Ebro). During the lengthy, 25-minute chat, Ciara talked about a plethora of things going on in her life right now, from her new album and the video for “I Bet”, to whether or not she keeps up with blogs, past relationships, and plans for her son’s birthday among other things. And of course, the topic of her new boy toy, Russell Wilson, was brought up as well. Got a few minutes to spare, then suggest you check out this entertaining chat above. Cop Jackie on iTunes today!
Making his late night television debut, Fetty Wap performed his breakout hit "Trap Queen" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Watch the Jersey rapper perform the track—which currently holds the No. 3 spot on Billboard Hot 100—and listen to the official remix of his new single "My Way" featuring Drake. Watch the official video for Lil Wayne's "Selsun Blue".
Revisiting his Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape, Lil Wayne decides to come out of nowhere and release the official video for “Selsun Blue”, a remix to Troy Ave’s “All About The Money” hit. Shot from his own indoor skatepark, watch as Weezy smokes his B’s and takes a few pills before spazzing out on the camera and showing off his improved, yet rather impressive boarding skills. It serves as the follow up to last month’s video for “Hollyweezy”. Watch the video above and look for Tha Free Weezy album to arrive sometime this Summer (hopefully sooner than later).
It was only a matter of time, really. After Fetty Wap officially made his formal introduction during Kanye West's NBA All-Star Concert in February, his single "Trap Queen" reached platinum status and is currently sitting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
So, naturally, Drake was destined to make a power play himself. With "Trap Queen" getting a multitude of remixes from Quavo, Gucci Mane and Azealia Banks, the OVO frontman has instead lent his vocal talents to Fetty's other buzzing single "My Way." Listen below.
