Nicki Minaj has been announced as a star of the new film, "Barbershop 3".
The Barbershop series is a beloved franchise, and had it not had a minor misstep with spin-off, Beauty Shop, it probably would have spawned a few more sequels. Well, it's never too late to reignite a successful series, and Barbershop will be getting a proper third installment with much of the returning cast, including Ice Cube, Eve, and Cedric The Entertainer. Of course, if they're looking for new fans, they'll have to give things a more modern twist, and the addition of Nicki Minaj as a cast member should be a big draw for the younger crowd. Minaj made her big screen debut in The Other Woman a couple years back, and while it's not clear if her Barbershop role will be yet another bit part, or a starring role, the director has confirmed her involvement, and she's even sat down for a table reading. No news on when the film will be arriving, but it looks as if filming should begin fairly soon. Check out some tweets and photos from rehearsals below. One pic seems to confirm that Common will also have a part in the film.

Let's be honest: at some point, we have all wondered what, exactly, is going on with the artist formerly known as Mos Def these days. Musically silent since 2009's The Ecstatic, it had felt that he'd been in the headlines for non-musical reasons (child support issues, that brutal force-feeding video) instead. While some of his (older) songs have appeared in an Apple commercial and a weird advert for Las Vegas' The Cosmopolitan, it wasn't until he popped up with A$AP Rocky in London and announced that he will guest-star on his upcoming sophomore LP At.Long.Last.A$AP that fans have finally seen some semblance of new tunes from the eclectic, reclusive artist.
That somewhat changes today, however, as he's broken a bit of silence and sat down with Beats by Dre - in London, nonetheless - to speak in length on a variety of topics. He explains his reason for relocating outside of America and how it has helped him musically, where he is at mentally, and much more. This is one of the few times that we get an interview from Mos that's longer than 30 seconds, so I'd definitely suggest you watch it above.

Ciara shares a stream of her new album "Jackie."
It's been about two years since Ciara dropped her last album, Ciara. A largely lovestruck album that featured several Future collaborations, including the Mike Will-produced hit "Body Party," the project drastically differs from her new one, entitled Jackie. Led by bittersweet breakup anthem "I Bet," the full project arrives on Spotify today. The 16-track release features very few collaborations, with Missy Elliott and Pitbull showing up on "That's How I'm Feelin," and Joe Jonas appearing on a bonus remix of "I Bet." Production comes from Dr. Luke, Polow da Don, H-Money, Cirkut, The Underdogs and TEK. Buy it here. Date: 5/7/15
