It’s that time of the year. Forbes has rolled out the list of hip-hop’s wealthiest. It’s the usual suspects, although maybe not in the order you would have guessed. 1. Diddy – $735 Million Many people expected Dr. Dre to hold the top spot following the sale of Beats to Apple last year, which landed him the largest single-year payday of any musician in history. But, Diddy has his hand in everything from vodka, to tequila, to water, to clothing, to even owning his own TV network– which is enough to land him the 1 spot. 2. Dr. Dre – $700 Million Coming in at a close second is Dre. You may remember when Dr. Dre declared himself the first billionaire in hip-hop following news that Apple would be purchasing Beats — not so fast. Along with that huge check comes a nine-figure tax bill, bumping him down just below Diddy. 3. Jay Z – $550 Million Coming in at number 3, is perennial top-fiver Hova. Although he currently sits at #3, his recent purchase of Scandinavian streaming service Tidal has the ability to bump him up the list by this time next year, assuming he can work out a few kinks. 4. 50 Cent – $155 Million Stakes in SMS headphones, Frigo underwear, and Effen vodka secure Fif’s #4 spot, as he looks to repeat the success he achieved with Vitamin Water. 5. Birdman – $150 Million Birmdan could very well have had the #4 spot on this list, if it weren’t for the current and ongoing feud between his label and it’s one-time flagship artist Lil Wayne. Cash Money’s worth has taken a slight dip, among rumors that Lil Wayne would be leaving him behind. C’mon Birdman, just pay the man and release the album. via Forbes.
