R&B diva Keyshia Cole can breathe a sigh of relief as reports claim she no longer has to worry about facing a nasty legal war following a publicized attack at rap mogul Birdman’s home a few weeks ago. According to reports, Cole will not be prosecuted by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors have told Cole that instead of going to trial, they want her to appear at an informal office hearing, where someone from the City Attorney’s Office will listen to her and the victim and then give the singer a stern warning not to do it again … or else. The hearing officer can require Cole to go to anger management courses … something they’ve done in similar cases before. (TMZ) Although brief in her response, Cole’s mom recently said she was fully on her daughter’s side. ”If I see Birdman, I’m gonna clip his wings,” Frankie said when asked about her stance on Keyshia and Birdman. “Y’all don’t want to hear none of this. What I think about Birdman? Glot! Glot! Glot! Glot-tah! What about Birdman? I’m about this [Cole album, Point of No Return].” (TMZ) Initial details about Cole’s altercation with a woman at Birdman’s hometurned up last month. The girl Keyshia Cole allegedly assaulted for spending the night at her rumored BF’s house says she’s not Birdman’s side piece … and she has no idea why Keyshia would think they’re banging. Sources privy to the case tell us … the alleged victim is Sabrina Mercadel — a Cash Money employee for more than a decade — and she’s known Birdman since they were young. (TMZ) I've actually been waiting on this episode ever since I saw the trailer back in the summer. Nas' segment on the show recently aired, where he - with some help from Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr - traced his familial origins back to the 1800s, where it was discovered that his great, great, great grandmother Pocahantas Little was purchased by slave owner Benjamin Franklin Little. It's really a moving if not a bit unsettling scene, as Nas would then see and react to a picture of the person who enslaved his family.
In light of Nas' new Time Is Illmatic documentary, Pete Rock puts together a 2dope mix of material. Screw a tracklist, press play and enjoy. "I was motivated to produce this mixtape because Time Is Illmatic is a part of hip hop history that everyone should know about; and have in both their music and now film collection." - Pete Rock Digga Digga, First Name Rashia was among the many who listened to !llmind's recent !lluminati project, as she takes one of the beats and rhymes over it. See, not everybody has to rap over the "6God" beat, people. The round-the-way version of Jhené Aiko (or is Jhené the hippie version of Mila? It doesn't matter, I'll take them both on any given Sunday) released her own project, Made In Los Angeles, a couple weeks ago, and the "Hot Box" purveyor displays a more sensuous side ins her latest music video.
This is what happens when you turn Blackstreet's "No Diggity" into a #CoCo anthem, basically.
