Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross has shared his thoughts on the publicized friction between Young Money boss Lil Wayne and Cash Money head Birdman. In Ricky Rozay’s perspective, Baby has not treated Weezy with respect as a Cash Money artist. “Weezy’s my homie. I was just with Weezy the other night at the club — I don’t have one with Birdman,” Ross said when asked if he still has a relationship with the Cash Money CEO. “If you read The Source Magazine you would see right now, and really me seeing Wayne going through as an artist, him being a boss, me idolizing Birdman at a time, looking up to Lil Wayne being the first artist to make so many feats. Not just as an artist but as an artist coming from the South. That’s something that I took personal. So for me to see the way things are transpiring, I can’t respect that and I don’t respect that.” (“The Breakfast Club”) Ross also talked about MMG setting a standard and not mistreating his artists.
“That ain’t the way the game built to be on and I ain’t with it,” Ross added referring to Lil Wayne’s publicized Cash Money issues. “And I ain’t nobody you could play with, you dig? In times like that, there’s only one thing you can go to and we go to that well and that’s ‘G’ talk right there. … I set examples, that’s what I do with my team so whenever you see Rozay speak highly of his team, if you a ‘G’ or you’re a boss, respect that because that’s what you want your ‘G’ or your big homie to do and that’s what I do. We don’t allow dudes to come into camps, just what transpired [with Cash Money.]” (“The Breakfast Club”) Young Money’s Nicki Minaj reacted to Birdman speaking on his stance toward Lil Wayne back in July.
