The founders of Verzuz, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, are making sure they receive the money they were promised after selling their idea to Triller last year but have not yet received their entire payment. Swizz and Timbo, according to a reports, have sued TikTok's rival after the music-based video-sharing app stopped paying them after the deal was completed last year. Both illustrious producers decided to sell Triller the concept for their grand Verzuz clashes in January 2021. Unfortunately, since last year, the app has reportedly missed a few payments. According to Variety, the complaint claims that "Defendants have failed and refused to make any payment to [Swizz Beatz and Timbaland] of the past due monies due and owed."
Triller and the founders kept the purchase price of Verzuz a secret when news of the deal leaked last year. Swizz and Timbo apparently received two payments from Triller before they stopped paying. At the beginning of 2022, they finally reached an agreement with the app that required Triller to pay them $1 million every month for the next ten months as well as $18 million ($9 million each) by March 20.
