Young Thug already has a trial date set for his RICO case in Georgia, but he will now have to deal with a completely different matter months after his initial trial. AEG, a live entertainment business, is suing Young Thug for $6 million, according to a report by AllHipHop that was released on Monday, August 22. AEG claims that the rapper disregarded an agreement they reached in 2017. According to the lawsuit, Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, received a $5 million advance from AEG in exchange for the exclusive rights to his gigs. Despite their agreement, the business asserts that Williams broke the deal shortly after the ink dried. “Despite having granted AEG the exclusive right to promote Mr. Williams’ concert performances under the terms of the 2017 Artist Agreement, YSL and Mr. Williams immediately failed and refused to honor their respective obligations under the 2017 Artist Agreement by, among other things, disregarding AEG’s rights, performing concerts without AEG’s involvement, and retaining all proceeds generated therefrom,” AEG’s lawyer Kathleen Jorrie explained.
The "Best Friend" rapper allegedly continued to book other events outside of AEG and made hundreds of thousands of dollars in performance fees, according to the lawsuit. AEG want its $5 million advance back with interest because they think Williams broke their contract. The rapper had also placed some of his publishing rights and intellectual property as collateral, as if that weren't enough. Due to those conditions, the business is pursuing the founder of Young Stoner Life for a total of $6 million in addition to claiming ownership of the Young Stoner Life brand, his trademark, and other assets that will enable it to recuperate the advance it paid him.
